The Rev. J. Randolph Alexander, Jr. (Randy) is Immanuel’s tenth Rector. He previously served as Rector of Christ Church in Pelham, N.Y.  During his thirteen years there, he also served as a Trustee of the Diocese of New York, a member of the Disciplinary Board, and a member of the Congregational Support Plan Committee.

A Virginia native, Fr. Randy graduated from the University of Virginia, where he first encountered the Episcopal Church. Prior to earning his M.Div. at the General Theological Seminary, he studied at Harvard Divinity School. His first call was as Curate at St. John’s Church in Larchmont, NY. Next he served as Assistant Rector at Old St. Paul’s Church in Baltimore, MD, then as Assistant at Holy Trinity Church, Sloane Street, London, England.

He is married to the Rev. Patricia Phaneuf Alexander, a 2001 graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary, who is currently Chaplain to the Upper and Middle Schools at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School in Potomac, MD. The Alexanders have three sons:  William (15), Peter (13), and Andrew (10).  Fr. Randy is a student in the Doctor of Ministry program at Virginia Seminary, and he serves our Diocese as a member of the Commission on Ministry and the Standing Committee.

Randy’s prayer is that Immanuel may be, more and more, a place where we celebrate together the grace, forgiveness, and abundant life offered to us by Jesus Christ.
