Serve God's People through ORT

Oral Re-Hydration Therapy
7th Annual Outreach Project with Temple Beth EI & Immanuel Church on the Hill

When? March 6th and March 20th, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. we need about 30 volunteers to insert directions in the ORT packets. Please call parishioner David Ingold, who is coordinating this phase: 703-751-8635 or davidingold@comcast.net.

On March 30th, any time between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. , we need all hands on deck! This is the BIG EVENT! No need to sign up, just show up.

Where? All events take place at Temple Beth EI, 3830 Seminary Road. Enter the building through the rear parking lot.

What? We assemble packets of dry ingredients (sugars & salts) that are shipped under the auspices of the United Nations and other relief agencies to scenes of natural or man-made disasters (war, famine, floods, & earthquakes).  Our goal is 20,000 packets.

Packets prepared in past years were used in Haiti, after the 2009 earthquake, and in the Philippines where first Typhoon Bopha in 2012 and then the devastating Typhoon Haiyan in November 2013 killed more than 6,000 people, and muddy waters washed out entire villages and disrupted clean water supplies.

After church, on March 30th, donate one hour or more of your time. Sit at a table with old or new friends. Measure a dry
ingredient; pour it in bowl which is passed to others doing the same, with the last person pouring all the ingredients into a packet.

It's easy and a great way to serve God's people globally!  All are welcome and encouraged to participate!
