2014 Episcopal-Lutheran Lenten Series
“Final Things”

A Lenten series for the City of Alexandria, sponsored by its Lutheran (ELCA) and Episcopal congregations.

 
Each evening will begin with Holy Eucharist at 6:30 p.m. (provided by the host parish), a “Simple Supper” at 7:00 p.m. (also provided by the host parish), and the program from 7:30 o 8:30 p.m.  This is a cooperative venture of all eight City of Alexandria Episcopal Churches and Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, the only ELCA church in the City of Alexandria.
 
The programs will be:
 
Wednesday, March 12, at Meade Memorial Episcopal Church, 322 N. Alfred Street, Alexandria.  “Is there a heaven, and (if so) how do I get there?” led by the Rev. Dr. Lloyd A. “Tony” Lewis, Jr.  Tony is a New Testament scholar who recently retired from the faculty at Virginia Theological Seminary.
 
Wednesday, March 19, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 228 S. Pitt Street, Alexandria.
“How might someone who is not a Christian end up in heaven?” led by the Rev. Dr. Kate Sondregger.  Kate is a systematic theology professor at VTS.
 
Wednesday, March 26, at Christ Episcopal Church, 118 N. Washington Street, Alexandria.  “Is there a hell, and (if so) who’s going there?” led by the Rev. Dr. Craig Phillips.  Craig is Rector of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Arlington, Virginia and an adjunct systematic theology professor.
 
Wednesday, April 2, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 100 W. Luray Avenue, Alexandria.  What if I do bad things?” led again by the Rev. Dr. Kate Sonderegger,
 
Monday, April 7, at Grace Episcopal Church, 3601 Russell Road, Alexandria.  “Views of the End Times”  led by the Very Rev. Dr. Ian Markham.  Ian is Dean and President of VTS.  He also teaches systematic theology courses there.
 
There is no need to pre-register for any of these classes, you need simply to show up.
