Pumpkins Are Coming!

Mark your calendars for Sunday, October 5th, when we will hold Mass on the Grass and then take delivery of two truckloads of pumpkins for our 21st annual Pumpkin Patch.  Two more trucks will come on Wednesday, October 15.

In a recent sermon, our Rector referred to Immanuel's "foundational stories."  The Pumpkin Patch is central to our identity in the local community, where we are known as "the Pumpkin Church."  The Pumpkin Patch is a wonderful opportunity to live our Christian values.  As you know, the profits we earn from the Patch fund our Outreach program of support to a wide range of local, national and international relief organizations to which our parishioners are committed.  This effort was recognized earlier in the year by the Diocese of Virginia with an award for Outreach.

Our ability to sustain this level of good works depends on the entire congregation pitching in.

The sign-up board for volunteers to work the patch is in the narthex.  If you have not done so yet, please sign up.  Help is particularly needed on weekends, when 65% of our sales are made.

Soups and baked goods prepared by parishioners are critical to a successful pumpkins campaign.  A booklet with instructions on food preparation, along with containers for soup, are available in the narthex right under the Patch signup board.

Pumpkin unloading will begin on Sunday October 5 following the 10am Mass-on-the-Grass. We need all hands on deck for this event! Please wear pumpkin appropriate attire -- suitable for unloading.
