Your Help Needed with Christmas Families

In Advent we are called to prepare the way for Christ's coming and to comfort his people.  This Christmas, Immanuel Church-on-the-Hill will provide gifts for 310 children and 150 parents -- 460 people designated by Human Services, the Child and Family Network preschools, and the Alexandria Community Shelter.

Many thanks to the 62 parish families who signed up to provide gifts for 120 children and 75 parents. Please bring the gifts to the church on or before Sunday, December 14.

The Christmas Families crew is purchasing gifts for the remaining 190 children and 75 parents. Please contribute generously to the special offering on Sunday, December 14, which is dedicated to Christmas Families.

There are additional ways you can help:

* Donations of gently used goods are still most appreciated and need to be delivered to church on or before Sunday December 14:

Clothing (marked by size) and toys will go to the boutique set up by Dorothy Kellogg when we deliver gifts to Human Services so the social workers can bring joy to even more people;

Computers will find eager fingers and minds;

Bicycles of all sizes are very welcome, and if you can help fixing them up, let Bill Frye know.

Drivers are needed to pick up gifts Sunday December 14 after the 9:15am service and between 2pm and 3pm, and take them to Human Serives 2500 Mount Vernon Avenue, on Monday morning between 8:30 and 10:00 am.

* Helpers are needed for a multitude of other tasks described here, or feel free to contact any of the individuals below for suggestions:
