Immanuel's Bike Program Needs You

11/19/2015

There are many parts to our Immanuel Christmas giving programs. One is the bicycle program.

In 1987 it began working with Christmas Families to provide bikes at Christmas. Many Immanuelites and other volunteers
began helping rebuild bikes. Throughout the year, though, there are many more requests for bikes, from social workers, teachers, Bikes for the World and many others as well. Most years the program donates between 50 and 100 bikes. One year almost 400 bikes were donated, with several hundred going to Bikes for the World. By 2010, there had been more than 5,000 bikes donated by the program; today we have donated another 210 bikes.

If anyone would like to help with the program, whether by donating used bikes, cleaning bikes for rebuild or performing mechanical work, please contact the Immanuel parish office or call Bill Frye for information on what you might do.
