Stewardship

The Stewardship Challenge

At Immanuel Church-on-the-Hill, we constantly tend to each other through our shared friendships and worship, and to the community through our many outreach activities. To sustain this robust stewardship, we ask you to consider making an individual or family commitment to fund a share of the Immanuel Church-on-the-Hill operating budget.  Commitments are vital funding sources through which all members can act as stewards to sustain our parish and its programs now and in the future.

While committed funds cover a large part of our operating expenses, our vestry has a long-standing goal of covering our total annual operating budget, aside from our separately funded Outreach program, with committed funding from parishioners.  Committed support, unlike collection plate giving, enables our Vestry to plan for and develop an annual budget to support immanuel's ministries and mission to bring people closer to God.  Giving this way also makes possible expanded and new programs. To continue maintaining our considerable outreach commitments and to manage faithfully our endowment funds created by planned giving bequests from past parishioners who wanted to sustain and grow our worship, mission and ministries for future generations, it is important for committed income to cover current operating costs.

Immanuel Church-on-the-Hill has a strong, responsive giving base, but its composition is in transition.  New members are replacing some founding and older members who have passed away or moved out of the area.  A fundamental stewardship challenge for us is to replace these previous, faithful  donors with new ones, and to grow our commitments from all our parish family. If you have never before made a commitment, we ask you to take this important spiritual step and enter into a covenant with us to sustain immanuel Church-on-the-Hill and its ministries.

How do you make your commitment?

You can fill out and submit an online commitment form here, print a form at http://icoh.net/Forms/Printable_Pledge_Form/  or request a commitment card from the parish office or from an usher and place it in the offertory plate.  If you would like to have a member of the Clergy, Vestry, or Stewardship Committee visit you, please contact the parish office or any member of the Stewardship Committee: Susan Gilbertson, Hance Haney, Douglas Henry, Doug John, Kerry Kelly and Jackie Phillips.

For most of us, making monetary gifts to support God’s ministry in the world Zabriskie Chapelinvolves intentional sacrifice and setting priorities.  In making your decision about giving, you might consider some themes in Proverbs regarding stewardship, the wise use of money, and the relationship between money and God.  Proverbs tells us to Give Generously and that When you give to the poor, you give to God -- 21:26 “The righteous gives and does not hold back.”   22:9 Those who are generous are blessed, for they share their bread with the poor.”  19:17 “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord, and the Lord will repay him for his deed.   Your commitment will allow us to continue Immanuel Church-on-the-Hill’s vibrant worship, Christian education for youth and adults, pastoral care, evangelism to newcomers, as well as to carry our light into our local and overseas communities by working with important charities and allocating all of our Pumpkin Patch profits to Immanuel Outreach.
